Great Curry
For us a good curry should be light and full of flavour, announcing its arrival with mouth watering aromas. And the side dishes can make or break the meal; we like crispy poppadoms, zingy dips, freshly made naan, fragrant rice and rich dal to round off the main dishes. Luckily in Bath the British love of curry means we have a lot of restaurants and curry houses to choose from. Most are good, some are special.
Yak Yeti Yak serve delicious Nepalese cuisine in their basement restaurant. The delightful decor matches their food, rustic yet thoughtful and beautiful. All the dishes we’ve tried have been packed with flavour and cooked beautifully, like the Stir Fry Chicken and Cauli Keraw. They have a variety of dining areas, including a Nepalese style dining room with low tables and floor cushions, which is a great way to enjoy your meal whilst sharing an array of dishes.
Mint Room is a balance of traditional flavours and contemporary techniques, producing dishes that are refreshing and flavoursome to eat. The real stars of the menu are their signature dishes, like the Seafood Moilee and the Murgh Jugal Bandi. Their dessert menu is also recommended, traditional lightly spiced Halva and Gulab Jamun are a delightful surprise, the perfect way to end the meal.
Slightly off the beaten track is Panahar , a 20 minute walk from the city centre. It is one of Bath's best kept local secrets, serving up great quality food. The small dining room gets packed on Friday and Saturday night, but it is definitely worth a visit. If you cannot get a table, they do takeaway!
For a unique Bath experience go to The Eastern Eye , a Bath institution for curry. The multi-award winning restaurant is an old reliable, serving up good food fast to a large room of diners.
With places like this to eat in, it is no wonder that curry is the nation’s favourite food!
